Tabuk is the administrative center of the Tabuk Region and the largest city in northwestern Saudi Arabia. It is surrounded by some of the most important archaeological sites in the Arabian Peninsula. Tabuk was home to many ancient civilizations before Islam, including the extinct Arab tribes such as Thamud, Midian, and the Nabataeans. It also contains the graves of the people of Prophet Shu’ayb (peace be upon him), known as the People of the Thicket (Ashab al-Aykah).
